Big goals are not scary if you use this simple procedure. In fact they become quite fun to attempt. Want to know the process......
Well first, you need to ask yourself, "are you willing to stick at a task for an extended period of time, even if you don't see immediate results?"
If you aren't then please don't read the rest of this post. But if you are, here is a secret that could absolutely change your life and your business (as it most definitely has changed ours):
Everything in life Is habitsThat is it. Show me a successful person and I will show you a person with effective habits. Show me someone who consistently achieves big things and I will show you a person whose habits reflect a consistent process of expanding their comfort zone and attempting things that scare other people.
You cannot escape this truth in life. You are your habits. If you business isn't thriving then I am 100% sure that you don't have effective business habits. So how do you use habits to achieve big goals:
Break the big goal into bite sized chunks. Then form a habit where every single day you accomplish one. It's that simple:
Want to write a book? An average book has 220 pages. That is approximately 65,000 words. That is a habit of writing 178 words per day for a year. That is NOTHING! This blog post is already 216 words.
Want to lose 10 pounds. That is an approximate reduction of 35,000 calories while maintaining your current activity (the amount of calories you burn in a day). That is 700 calories in a day for 50 days. A soda and a bag of chips is over 700 calories.
Want to get 100 new customers? If your conversion rate in your business is 20% (that is for you get 1 customer for every 5 new people who are exposed to your product) then you need to talk to 500 new people. That is new people a day for the next 100 days. SIMPLE. Pick up the phone and get to work.
Your habits control youComplaining is a habit
Watching TV is a habit
Overcoming fear is a habit
Exercising is a habit
Getting out of your comfort zone is a habit
Break down a big goal into bite sized chunks, then create habits to accomplish them. It is that simple.
